For some reason, not all women specify with a gynecologist those moments that concern them most. This is especially true for polycystic ovaries. Most often, the doctor himself tells the general information about the disease, but about such seemingly simple moments sometimes is silent. Next, we will tell about the mandatory diagnosis of hormonal, menstrual and ovulation during PCOS.

№1. What hormones to take when polycystic ovaries?

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a disease that is caused by a violation of the production of sex hormones. Its first sign is an irregular cycle or the complete absence of menstruation, as well as the impossibility of becoming pregnant during regular sex life.

If you suspect polycystic women, a number of diagnostic studies are conducted, among them:

  1. Ultrasound. The ovaries are visualized enlarged in size, their structure is heterogeneous due to the large number of small follicles (cysts) filled with fluid.
  2. Blood tests for hormones for PCOS. It is necessary to determine the level of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), testosterone, estradiol, progesterone, cortisol and prolactin.

In polycystic ovaries, the values of luteinizing hormone (LH) and testosterone are usually elevated, and the level of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) is reduced. If a blood test is taken on the 18-21 day cycle, then a reduced amount of progesterone can be diagnosed, since ovulation does not occur, a yellow body does not form, and it produces progesterone.

Rupture of the dominant follicle and the release of the egg

№2. Is there ovulation with polycystic ovaries?

Polycystic is a hormonal disease in which the ratio of sex hormones estrogen and progesterone is disturbed. In this regard, there is an increase in the formation of follicles on the ovaries by several times. With the help of ultrasound, this condition is easily diagnosed - the ovaries become similar to blackberries.

Due to the fact that multiple follicles appear, the walls of the ovaries thicken. The dominant “bubble” in which the egg cell matures is not formed at all or the cell cannot break through its thick walls. Therefore, ovulation with polycystic does not occur.

Since there is no ovulation, symptoms such as a change in the menstrual cycle up to a complete absence of menstruation, the inability to become pregnant with regular sexuality and the health of a partner appear. Pathological secretions may be present in the middle of the cycle. In some cases, women notice nagging pain in the abdomen. In addition to the violation of the cycle and problems with conception, there is no other symptoms.

Number 3. How to cause monthly with polycystic ovaries?

Monthly with polycystic ovaries often come with a long delay, may be absent altogether for several months. This is due to a shortage of the hormone progesterone, which is responsible for the development of uterine endometrium and the arrival of menstruation.

Therefore, in order to artificially cause menstruation, synthetic progesterone is needed. It is contained in the following preparations:

  • Duphaston. It should be taken from the 14th to the 16th day of the cycle, from 25 to 17 days, one tablet each. Usually on the 28-29th day they come monthly.
  • Utrogestan is a drug similar to Duphaston, only of plant origin. He is preferred more often because he has practically no contraindications and is suitable for most women.
  • Norkolut is a drug containing a gestagen analogue. It reduces the tone of the uterus and affects the ovaries in such a way as to cause menstruation. You can start taking it at any time, 2 tablets for 7 days. After the end of the reception comes menstruation.

Causes

Why does polycystic ovary develop, and what is it? Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a very common gynecological disease in which the following disorders occur in a woman's body:

  1. In the ovaries, egg maturation is impaired, as a result of which a woman may have considerable difficulty in conceiving a child.
  2. Multiple cysts (vesicles filled with fluid) can form in the ovaries.
  3. Monthly come rarely with long breaks or stop altogether.
  4. A large number of male sex hormones (androgens) are produced in a woman’s body.

Similarly, the reason is still under study. There are several theories trying to explain the mechanism of development of polycystic ovaries, but they do not have a sufficient evidence base, so we will not give them below.

It is believed that predisposing for the development of this state in the ovaries are such factors:

  • inflammation of the reproductive organs,
  • hereditary factors (if women in the family had such a pathology),
  • injuries to the genitals (especially the ovaries),
  • obesity,
  • frequent abortions,
  • complicated and difficult childbirth.

Also distinguish between primary polycystic ovary syndrome (Stein-Leventhal syndrome) and secondary polycystic ovary syndrome. Syndrome secondary polycystic ovaries develops on the background of adrenal hyperplasia, thyroid disease, diabetes, obesity.

Can I get pregnant with polycystic ovary

A hormonal disorder that causes polycystic ovary syndrome is observed in women of reproductive age. Due to the disruption of the natural maturation process of the follicles, the mature egg does not leave the ovary.

An additional "obstacle" is the thickened capsule of the ovary, which is formed during polycystic. Thus, ovulation occurs much less frequently than a healthy cycle implies (oligo-ovulation) or does not occur at all (anovulation). Outwardly, this is manifested by the absence or irregularity of menstruation and infertility. Often women will find out about polycystic ovarian syndrome, already starting treatment for infertility. Sometimes these patients manage to get pregnant, but often due to hormonal impairment, pregnancy ends early.

However, in most cases, after a course of treatment of polycystosis, it is possible to become pregnant and successfully bear and give birth to a healthy child. In most cases, polycystic prevents the conception of the child more than his carrying. If polycystosis has already been diagnosed in a pregnant woman, then a course of hormonal and drug therapy should be taken to maintain normal health and successfully bear the fetus.

First signs

Initial signs of polycystic ovary:

  1. Menstruation,
  2. Overweight,
  3. Increase the amount of hair on the body.

The primary signs of polycystosis are difficult for doctors to identify. A significant role in the verification is assigned to a woman. In case of irregular or prolonged menstruation, consult a doctor immediately.

Symptoms of polycystic ovary

There are several characteristic symptoms of polycystic ovary, which can be observed in various combinations, have different severity:

  1. Irregular menstrual cycle: long breaks (more than 35 days) between menstruation are characteristic, rarely PI polycystic ovarian vaginal bleeding occurs 2-3 times a month.
  2. Scanty (more often) or heavy (less often) cyclic bleeding.
  3. Duration of menstruation is different: from 2-3 to 7-10 days.
  4. The growth of noticeable dark hair on the face, chest, abdomen - hirsutism. A symptom occurs due to an excessive amount of androgens in the blood of a woman.
  5. Rude (male) voice.
  6. Obesity. The distribution of excess fatty tissue occurs in the male type (in the lower abdomen and in the abdominal cavity, while the arms and legs remain of normal size).
  7. Oily skin plus acne or body acne.
  8. Alopecia. Male-pattern baldness of the scalp is characteristic (balding on the forehead and on the crown).
  9. Fibrocystic mastopathy.
  10. Hyperinsulinemia. Increased blood insulin levels due to tissue insulin resistance.
  11. Infertility. It is explained by chronic anovulation or rare ovulation (during the rupture of the follicle and the release of the egg, it cannot break through the very dense membrane of the ovary).

As you can see, polycystic is manifested differently depending on the reasons that caused it. Most often, this disease is characterized by symptoms such as an increase in the size of the ovaries and an irregular menstrual cycle. A woman who takes care of herself should be alerted by long delays. This is already a serious reason to consult a doctor. It is worth paying attention to the basal temperature, which normally should increase in the second half of the cycle, and in case of polycystic it remains the same all the time.

Diagnostics

The diagnosis of polycystic ovary is made on the basis of ultrasound, but for the correct diagnosis is not enough. Polycystic ovaries give a peculiar characteristic picture on ultrasound, but sometimes a completely healthy woman can have the same picture. In this regard, it is wrong to diagnose polycystic diagnosis on the basis of ultrasound only.

Therefore, you need to pass a blood test for such hormones:

  • luteinizing (LH),
  • follicle-stimulating (FSH),
  • testosterone,
  • insulin,
  • cortisol
  • 17-OH progesterone,
  • Deja sulfate,
  • thyroxin (T4),
  • triiodothyronine (T3),
  • thyrotropin (TSH).

The diagnosis of polycystic ovaries cannot be made until diseases that give exactly the same clinical picture are excluded:

  • Cushing's syndrome - an increased amount of cortisol
  • androgenital syndrome - increased testosterone,
  • hyperprolactinemia - prolactin oversupply,
  • hypothyroidism - reduced thyroid function.

In general, the diagnosis of polycystic ovary will be reliable only if it is based on the results of laboratory and ultrasound studies and takes into account the whole complex of symptoms, that is, the clinical manifestations of the disease. Polycystic ovary syndrome is a combination of symptoms, including menstrual disorders, infertility and the manifestation of androgenic dermapathy.

Treatment of polycystic ovary

With a diagnosed polycystic ovary, treatment is a complex, multi-step process of consistently restoring the physiological parameters of the entire body. Polycystic ovarian disease is not only a gynecological disease, so treatment should also be aimed at eliminating those disorders that led to the development of ovarian pathology. The volume of therapeutic measures is determined based on the severity of the process and the desire of a woman to become pregnant.

Polycystic ovary treatment requires the following points:

  • regulation of metabolic processes in the brain (that is, therapy affecting the hypothalamic-pituitary system),
  • suppression of androgens excessively produced by the ovaries,
  • normalization of weight, the elimination of topical metabolic disorders,
  • therapy focused on the restoration of the menstrual cycle, as well as the elimination of infertility caused by polycystic cases.

How to treat? As for drugs, today the first-line drugs in the treatment of polycystic ovary are metformin and glitazone (pioglitazone, rosiglitazone). If necessary, antiandrogenic drugs (spironolactone, cyproterone acetate), estrogens (ethinyl estradiol as a separate drug or in birth control pills), progestins, small doses of dexamethasone (0.5-1 mg in the evening to suppress adrenal secretion of androgens) can be added to them. .

Treatment for excessive hair growth

Your health care provider may recommend birth control pills to reduce androgen production, or a drug called spironolactone (Aldactone), which blocks the action of androgens on the skin. However, spironolactone can cause birth defects, so when using this drug, effective contraception is necessary. Spironolactone is not recommended if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant.

Eflornithine (Vaniqa) cream is another option for slowing facial hair growth in women. Possible options for hair removal without the use of drugs: it is electrolysis and laser hair removal. Laser hair removal works best on very dark hair and covers large areas.

Normalization of body weight

Women suffering from polycystic ovaries on the background of obesity, must combine physical activity with a certain diet and diet:

  • calorie restriction of food up to 1500 - 1800 kcal per day with 5-6 meals a day,
  • eating low-calorie foods (fruits, vegetables),
  • increased protein content in the diet (fish, seafood, meat, cottage cheese),
  • restriction of carbohydrate foods (baking, sugar, jam, honey, sugary drinks),
  • elimination of animal fats and their replacement with vegetable fats. Daily fat intake is not more than 80 g,
  • exclusion of spices, spices, sauces, smoked and pickled products,
  • complete elimination of alcohol
  • fasting days 2-3 times a week (apple, kefir, cottage cheese, vegetable).

Particular attention should be paid to sweets, that is, to exclude it from your diet at all. Along with dieting, you need to exercise (gymnastics, swimming, jogging, yoga).

Regulation of menstrual function

For this purpose, COCs (combined oral contraceptives) are used that do not have an androgenic effect. For example, Marvelon, Janine and others. 1 tablet from 5 to 25 day of the cycle, for three months. Then break one month.

They effectively restore the cycle, and at the same time protect against the "accumulation" of non-sloughing endometrium. If the effect of androgens is expressed significantly, then it is better to use an antiandrogen (in combination with estrogen) instead of them - Diane-35.

In the case when hormonal therapy is ineffective for half a year, surgical intervention is indicated to the patient. It can also be prescribed at risk of developing endometriosis.

The most common are two types of surgery:

  1. Sphenoid resection - is to remove a certain part of the ovaries on both sides. This method has a high degree of efficiency - in 85% of cases, it is possible to achieve the onset of ovulation.
  2. Laparoscopic electrocoagulation of the ovaries - special notches are made in several places with the help of a needle electrode. Compared with resection, this method is much more gentle, since the probability of adhesions formation is minimized.

Sometimes the choice of method of operation occurs during diagnostic laparoscopy, which allows for surgical treatment directly after examining the ovaries. Another advantage of laparoscopic surgery is the ability to eliminate adhesions and / or restore the patency of the fallopian tubes.

Traditional methods of treatment of polycystic ovaries

Treatment of polycystic ovarian folk remedies is not recommended due to the low effectiveness of the latter. Given the number of hormonal disorders in the body of a woman with polycystic ovary syndrome, herbal treatment cannot bring the effect that occurs with proper hormonal or surgical treatment.

Treatment prognosis

It is impossible to completely cure PCOS, so the goal of therapy is to create favorable opportunities for conception. When planning a pregnancy, women diagnosed with polycystic ovary should be treated to restore and stimulate ovulation.

With age, polycystosis of the ovaries progresses, therefore, the issue of pregnancy should be resolved as soon as possible.

I carefully read the diagnosis of PCOS, this is very serious. And just in the absence of periods such a diagnosis is not made!
The doctor prescribes drugs that would come monthly, but for treatment, it has nothing to do. Further examines the patient.
Hormones can also be given in the absence of menstruation, only in this period their diagnostic value in this period is different.

Mosaic, well, prolactin can be checked any day.
check it and go to the doctor, if it turns out to be too high, then you can safely call the monthly doufastan.
and after that, have other tests.

Do not blame, I write this to the fact that now constantly need to monitor it. Polycystic _-SYNDROME, since when are the syndromes cured ??
If the cause of PCOS is eliminated, then PCOS will not be.

Prolactin, generally not indicative, separate from all hormones
Prolactin is related to duphastan.
I'm here for this. So the author will cause monthly

can cure simple hormone tablets!

Polycystosis is treated of course, the proof is that many people familiar with this problem suffered, but in the end they were cured. another thing is that more often you can be cured with the help of surgery than with hormonal ones. but there are cases when everything was normalized after taking hormonal. I would like to normalize everything at the moment, as I still think it’s too early to start children, but I gained some weight in my weight and my hair gets fat very quickly. But in addition to prolactin, a lot of hormones need to be checked. and it is on certain days, since it will take two times, on the third and on the fifth day of the cycle, to establish where the failure has occurred. and no monthly. Of course, I think it’s an option to go to the doctor again so that he has already said what to do next, but still, maybe someone had that.

Good luck author! Do not delay with pregnancy my advice to you. I had 3 laporascopy, 3 IVF attempts, and the result so far is ZERO.

Girl, my friend's situation was one to one. How much money she spent on doctors - scary to remember. Everyone agreed that it would be impossible to provoke ovulation, it is urgent to give birth (this was four years ago). She did not want to give birth then (for material reasons), but after that she PLAYED (to everyone's joy, of course). Yes, despite the fact that for the most part they were protected by the bridegroom at that time (the doctors spoke contemptuously - that's a fool, why, you won’t be able to get pregnant). And only on the conduct of the pregnancy, the gynecologist told her how many "polycystic" women become pregnant once or twice, all of them and the babies are fine afterwards (as a rule, after the first pregnancy, the second has no problems). I do not want to encourage you, but personally witness at least two such cases.

Thank you all very much! )))) as soon as I started this topic here, after 2 days my happiness came))) without taking any medications. waited for the same! )) Now I’ll fly away to take these tests.

While I am being treated, I found a good doctor who helped me to identify the whole RANGE of the causes of my polycystic disease, but thank God I was born a baby when I was 18. Now it’s 23, but I want at least two more children ..

Physiologically correct functioning of the ovaries

The normal functioning of the ovaries is accompanied by the following processes:

  1. During the menstrual cycle, in its first half, the antral follicle begins to grow in the ovary. Its wall consists of granulosa and theca, which forms a favorable environment for the maturation of the egg cell and its subsequent fertilization.
  2. Follicle-stimulating hormone accelerates the growth of the follicle, reaching a peak of development on the 12th or 16th day of the cycle. Its size is 18 mm.
  3. Under the influence of luteinizing hormone in the blood, in its peak concentrations, ovulation occurs or, in other words, the release into the abdominal cavity of the egg due to rupture of the wall of the follicle. In the event of a proper development of events, by fringes or fimbriae of the fallopian tubes, the egg cell is captured where it meets the most active sperm cell.
  4. At the point of rupture of the follicle, a yellow body is formed, which is the prodrug of progesterone, which is necessary to maintain a normal course of pregnancy in its early stages.

The diagnosis of polycystic ovary (polycystic ovary syndrome) is established on the basis of the presence of a number of clinical signs in a woman.

In the absence of pregnancy, by the beginning of the next cycle, the corpus luteum is absorbed. Its decay is accompanied by a significant hormonal decline, which provokes the menstrual cycle. Polycystic ovaries do not allow the follicle to mature and reach its maturity. Their cyclical accumulation, in an underdeveloped form, causes a typical general picture of this disease.

Causes and symptoms of the disease

There is still no consensus on the reasons that provoke such a disease among doctors. It has been established that this disease occurs against the background of the insensitivity of body tissues to insulin, which participates in the regulation of blood sugar levels. According to the results of the research it was found that female ovaries with polycystic syndrome, produce too much male sex hormones, due to which, properly, it is almost impossible for the body to process the excess insulin present.

Nevertheless, some of the causes of polycystic ovarian disease are still known, among the provocateurs of the disease are:

  • constant stress
  • colds,
  • heredity,
  • hormonal disorders,
  • sore throat

The disease is able to manifest itself even at the time of climate change, even for a short period of time. There is an opinion that the disease can develop against the background of diseases of other organs:

  • pituitary gland,
  • thyroid gland,
  • hypothalamus,
  • adrenal glands.

The symptomatology of the disease is not caused by a specific secular segment and can manifest itself at any age. The development of the disease in puberty can not only delay the menstrual cycle, but also completely eliminate it from the functioning of the female body. In this regard, a young girl may suffer from overweight or the presence of male-style hair: that is, to have it in places where it should not be anatomically present: chest, face. Cases of menstrual irregularities, as well as the presence of quite heavy bleeding, are not rare.

In each patient, the symptoms will be very diverse. It may be observed, as all of the above, as well as individual signs:

  • hirsutism - hair growing of women (breast, abdomen, back, legs, face, nasolabial triangle, groin area), unusual for women,
  • hyperandrogenism or high levels of male sex hormone - testosterone,
  • menstrual irregular bleeding or lack thereof,
  • bleeding from the uterus,
  • high blood pressure
  • acne, acne (acne),
  • obesity in the waist,
  • thin hair or alopecia (male pattern baldness),
  • infertility.

This disease can also be accompanied by:

  • diabetic symptoms
  • increased urination,
  • candidiasis or vaginal thrush,
  • skin chronic infections.

The absence or irregular menstrual cycle should always be alarming, since they are the most common and sure sign of such a disease. In this case, it is necessary to pay attention to scanty bleeding instead of normal discharge and the interval of 35 or 40 days between two periods, the number of which is less than eight times during the year. As a rule, polycystic is manifested with the onset of menstrual cycles during puberty.

Women suffering from polycystic ovaries suffer from problem skin, as well as oily and sparse hair. In adulthood, the disease can trigger dementia or Alzheimer's disease or unwanted neoplasms.

Difficulties in diagnosing the disease

Clinically, the symptoms of polycystic ovarian disease manifest themselves in a completely diverse manner, which is due to the causes that provoke the disease. Symptoms of polycystic ovary are similar to the symptoms of other diseases. The most common method of diagnosis is ultrasound examination. However, it is not entirely reliable. The clinical, false, picture of the disease can be clearly manifested even in a perfectly healthy woman. Only in 20% of cases, with the help of ultrasound examination, the disease can be detected in women who have not yet undergone menopause and the symptoms of the disease do not manifest themselves. That is why the blood test, in the process of diagnosing the disease is mandatory. Moreover, tests for polycystic ovaries are done several times, clearly, on the days of the menstrual cycle.

Despite clear signs of polycystic, the final diagnosis is based on a comparison:

  • present symptoms
  • ultrasound examination
  • test results.

To make the correct diagnosis, relying solely on the results of ultrasound is impossible.

Conservative treatment of polycystic ovary

The effectiveness of the use of hormonal drugs is about 50%. This method of treatment stimulates the growth of follicles in the ovaries and ensures their mature development with subsequent ovulation. A rare case of treatment is the use of oral contraceptives with anti-androgenic properties that last from two to three months. During this period, thanks to the active work of the ovaries, ovulation is restored, which has to pregnancy. However, they are effective in the period when pregnancy is not planned.

To induce regular menstrual cycles, it is possible to use a synthetic analogue of the female hormone progesterone, progestogen.

As a rule, in the pharmacy sale you can find drugs based on estrogen with a low content of anti-androgen: a substance that blocks the influence of male sex hormones and cyproterone acetate. Spironolactone has a similar effect. Acne, acne and excessive hair growth are effectively controlled by ziproterone acetate. In the case of the presence of excess weight, among the mandatory, there are drugs that contribute to weight loss. In some cases, it is the reduction of weight that is a necessary condition for restoring the ovulation process.

Metformin has proven itself quite well:

  • takes part in the correct use of insulin produced by the human body,
  • promotes weight loss,
  • lowers blood pressure
  • participates, in part, in the restoration of the menstrual cycle,
  • able to control excessive hair growth, triggered by high levels of testosterone.

However, it is worth remembering that the effect of the drugs used during the treatment of polycystic ovary will not be immediately visible.

If the above method does not bring positive results, then it is possible to use a different technique, the duration of which is from four to six months. Its essence consists in careful ultrasound control, as well as the receipt, in the first phase of the cycle, of certain hormones that stimulate ovulation in case of sufficient maturation of the dominant follicle. At the end of the first part of the treatment, drugs are prescribed, the action of which is aimed at maintaining the functioning of the resulting yellow body.

Regular monthly

It should be noted that even with polycystic menstruation, menstruation can occur regularly. In such cases, the disease proceeds without symptoms — hair does not increase throughout the body, menstruation is present, and body weight does not change dramatically. And only periodic pain in intimate relationships or sudden movements can prompt a woman to see a doctor. It is on a routine check-up at a gynecologist that polycystosis can appear, which is monthly during which it is regular.

  • premenopausal period
  • abortion,

Delay and abdominal pain, traditionally considered the first signs of pregnancy, can be symptoms of many ailments, the most frequent of which is ovarian dysfunction. It may appear as a result of any gynecological disease (for example, adnexitis, polycystic ovary, uterine fibroids) or endocrine disorder (thyroid disease).

Treatment of polycystic ovaries is challenging. Not so long ago, the main method of treatment was surgery. Now, in the absence of pathology on the part of the fallopian tubes, treatment usually begins with the administration of hormonal drugs.

The first department involved in the regulation of the menstrual cycle is the cerebral cortex. All external factors, including stress, affect the cerebral cortex, which leads to a delay of menstruation. A typical example of a long delay in menstruation is the so-called wartime amenorrhea. Also on the menstrual cycle affects heavy physical labor and high physical activity (enhanced sports).

  • First, a gradual, and then a significant and sharp increase in weight.
  • Artificial excitation of ovulation processes. Acceptance of hormonal drugs that provoke the maturation of the dominant follicle and contribute to the release of the egg cell ready for fertilization.

With delayed treatment may develop infertility, bend of the uterus, menstrual disorders, ectopic pregnancy.

Another reason for the lack of menstruation and failure in the menstrual cycle can be a large amount of the hormone prolactin. Polycystosis can be discussed in this case only when there is no breastfeeding and menstruation does not occur within a year. An increase in prolactin provokes polycystic ovarian disease and causes disruptions in the menstrual cycle.

Increased greasiness of hair and skin. the appearance of acne. acne, seborrhea. In case of polycystic ovaries develop as a result of androgen hypersecretion, they are permanent and do not respond to symptomatic therapy.

It should be noted that only after a thorough examination and identification of pathological abnormalities in the ovaries it is possible to speak with confidence about ovarian pyrolystosis.

    Highlight brown, green or yellow.

The inflammatory process in the appendages, in particular, in the ovaries, uterine fibroids, endometrial hyperplasia, ovarian cysts, adenomyosis, endometriosis lead to disruption of hormonal levels and may be accompanied by delayed menstruation.

Disturbance of hormonal regulation leads to a suspension of the development and maturation of follicles, an increase in size and compaction of the ovarian capsule, under which multiple cystic growths begin to form from immature follicles. This entails a breakdown of ovulation, menstrual function and infertility. Against the background of obesity (and it occurs in women with PCOS in 40% of cases), these processes are even more pronounced.

Regular monthly is not the time between the course of menstruation, and the period from the first day of the past month to the initial day of the offensive. As a rule, at the beginning of their course, menstruation is irregular. Later, regular periods are established, which last from twenty-one to thirty-five days. However, the regularity of the monthly rhythm of the body of each woman can fluctuate under the influence of a variety of reasons: intense sports, dieting, failure to comply with the daily regimen, stressful situations. If the menstrual cycle proceeds with a greater or lesser number of days that are indicated above, then it is necessary to immediately consult a gynecologist. Often, regular periods last for about four to six days, although at first they can last a larger number of days. The duration and intensity of discharge during regular periods is strictly individual and may vary from one and the same person. Only, knowing the course of your period, you can exclude unpleasant surprises, for example, the unexpected onset of menstruation. You can also calculate the duration of the flow of menstruation, and even determine the exact day they began next month, if you constantly keep a calendar of menstruation.

If monthly periods have become scarce or there is a complete absence of menstruation, it is necessary to consult a doctor. For such symptoms, it is impossible to make a definite diagnosis and immediately state that a woman has polycystic ovary. To identify the causes of irregularities in the cycle of menstruation, you must pass a full examination.

  • Laparoscopy. confirming bilateral cystic ovarian changes.
  • The study of the level of lipids and lipid fractions to determine lipid metabolism disorders.
  • insufficient insulin production leading to diabetes mellitus
  • And the recommended drugs for some reason are not effective in your case.
  • exclusion of spices, spices, sauces, smoked and pickled products,

Possible complications and prevention of the disease

If you do not see a doctor with such symptoms in time, the risk of rupture of the fallopian tube and the opening of internal bleeding is great.

After removal of cysts on the ovaries and getting rid of polycystic it is necessary to understand that the disease can return at any time. To prevent recurrence, it is important to adhere to preventive measures that will help avoid new cyst formation on the ovaries.

  • Determination of blood levels of hormones of the pituitary, ovaries, adrenal glands: prolactin. follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), progesterone. estradiol. 17-hydroxyprogesterone, testosterone. androstenedione. cortisol. DEA-S (dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate).
  • the presence of a large amount of the hormone androgen (hyperandrogenism in clinical or biochemical form), which completely suppresses the production of estrogen (female hormone),

Delay and lower abdominal pain during adhesions

To confirm these criteria in the diagnosis of PCOS, a number of objective, laboratory and instrumental methods are used:

Cysts that occur on the ovaries significantly impede the functioning of the genital organs. At this time, an insufficient amount of hormones is secreted, and ovulation does not occur, which leads to infertility. If polycystosis is not cured in time, it can lead to the occurrence of the following diseases:

After the appearance of the first menstruation (menarche), the regular menstrual cycle is established within one to two years. During this time, the monthly irregular, characterized by constant delays.

    Polycystic ovary

In addition, the female body is extremely sensitive to any negative external influences, and the slightest hypothermia or overheating, a sharp set or loss of weight, severe stress, overwork can cause a failure of the menstrual cycle and the appearance of pain in the abdomen. Lack of nutrition and adherence to strict diets can also cause delay and lower abdominal pain.

A number of disorders that occur in the body with polycystic ovaries, allow the woman herself to suspect its development.

A woman should understand that even the slightest changes in the cycle of menstruation should alert her and get to see a doctor. This will help prevent the occurrence of complications and fix the problem in time.

In case of polycystic ovaries, the most frequent abnormalities of the menstrual cycle (often delayed menstruation), excessive hair growth on the body, an increase in the size of the ovaries (but not always), in half of the patients - obesity.

The main signs of polycystic ovary:

The basis of the development of polycystic ovaries are primarily polyendocrine disorders, manifested by a disorder of functions:

Polycystic ovary - the formation and proliferation on the surface of the ovaries of multiple small cysts due to hormonal disorders in the woman's body. It may be asymptomatic, sometimes manifested as menstrual dysfunction (oligomenorrhea), male body hair growth, obesity. acne. Leads to miscarriage and infertility.

  • endocrine pathology,
  • eating low-calorie foods (fruits, vegetables),

Menstruation after birth is not immediately restored. The main reason for the lack of menstruation is breastfeeding, during which the production of prolactin, which suppresses hormones that regulate the menstrual cycle, occurs. But even in cases of no lactation, menstruation is restored no earlier than six to eight weeks.

pituitary and hypothalamus (dysregulation of the adrenal glands and ovaries),

Polycystic ovaries can cause delayed menstruation and lower abdominal pain. In this disease, small cysts form and grow in the ovaries. Caused by hormonal disorders in the female body. The disease can occur without symptoms, but sometimes there is a delay in menstruation and nagging pain in the lower abdomen. Pain can spread to the pelvic region and lower back. Also, obesity and increased greasiness of hair and skin can join these symptoms.

Monthly with polycystic ovaries can be both scanty and abundant. The appendages play an important role in the reproductive function of a woman, and if pathological changes begin in them, this affects the menstrual cycle and ovulation.

  • increased protein content in the diet (fish, seafood, meat, cottage cheese),
  • ovarian dysfunction, manifested in violation of the menstrual cycle, the absence of ovulation (anovulation) and infertility,
  • Prevention of diseases of the kidneys and liver.

Such signs are already a progressive stage of the disease. Therefore, it is worth paying attention to the monthly. It is they who first let know about the problems with the ovaries. Violation in the cycle of menstruation - the first proof.

Obesity. Manifested by a sharp increase in weight by 10-15 kg. Fat deposits can be distributed on the universal type (evenly throughout the body) or on the male type of obesity (mainly deposited in the waist and abdomen). Disorders of lipid and carbohydrate metabolism can lead to the development of type 2 diabetes.

During puberty, intense changes occur in the child’s body, affecting not only health, but also the state of mind. It is important that parents can explain to the child all the changes and support him emotionally.

Constancy of basal (rectal) temperature during the whole menstrual cycle. In the second phase of the menstrual cycle in normal there is a characteristic jump in the basal temperature, which coincides in time with the process of ovulation. The absence of a temperature maximum indicates an anovulatory cycle.

Delay and abdominal pain during ectopic pregnancy

Polycystic ovarian disease is observed in violation of the function of various organs: the hypothalamus, pituitary, adrenal glands, the thyroid gland and the ovaries themselves. Therefore, the disease can manifest itself in different ways depending on the reasons for its occurrence and it is not enough to use any one diagnostic feature or method to establish a diagnosis.

With the help of preventive measures, you can prevent the appearance of polycystic and other diseases of the urogenital system of a woman. The main thing is to understand that it is easier to prevent any pathology than to cure it later.

Such symptoms may well be provoked by an ectopic pregnancy, which at first proceeds in the same way as a normal one. When ectopic pregnancy is often observed nausea, dizziness, loss of consciousness and weakness. Constant weak dull or aching pain during such pregnancy may be on the right or on the left side of the abdomen just above the pubis.

Such symptoms at first proceed imperceptibly, not all women pay attention to them. And only when there is a noticeable acne rash, hair on the face and throughout the body, like in men, and on the head, on the contrary, they fall out, only then women begin to be anxious.

    What periods are considered regular?

For determining regular monthly periods, it is recommended to keep track of the monthly cycle specifically for each woman. It is necessary to keep track of the monthly starting date of the monthly periods for some months in order to establish their sequence. If a woman has questions about the regularity of menstruation, then it is necessary to pay close attention to such factors: the date of completion of menstruation, the duration of menstruation, the amount of bleeding, the presence of pain. If a woman is trying to understand why the regularity of menstruation is violated, then it is necessary to find out if the pregnancy has occurred. If a woman has not had a period of about six weeks, and during this period there was an increased sexual activity, then a pregnancy test should be carried out. On regular periods, usually affects breastfeeding, violation of the day, diet, exercise, the presence of stress. Breaking regular periods can cause a disease such as polycystic ovary. It is caused by a common hormonal disorder that leads to the growth of small cysts that are filled with fluid. These tumors bring down the menstrual cycle. The regularity of the monthly decreases with premature extinction of ovarian function at the age of up to forty years. In inflammatory processes in the pelvic area can also disrupt the normal course of menstruation. The presence of uterine fibroids causes severe flow of menstruation and the occurrence of bleeding between breaks.

Ovarian dysfunction develops when the hormone-forming function of the ovaries is disturbed, as a result of which the menstrual cycle is disturbed and ovulation is absent. The disease manifests delayed menstruation for more than 4-5 months, after which the bleeding started lasting for more than 7 days. But there may be frequent erratic menstruation.

Diseases of the thyroid gland, diabetes mellitus and others affect all levels of the regulation of the menstrual cycle (hypothalamus, pituitary, adrenal glands, ovaries) and often lead to a delay of menstruation.

adrenal cortex (increased secretion of androgens),

The main methods for the diagnosis of polycystic ovary:

In premenopause, hormone levels jump, ovulation suppression and ovarian function decline. Clinically, it manifests itself in an irregular menstrual cycle with long delays. Source: womenhealthnet.ru

increased risk of heart disease and blood vessels (myocardial infarction, increased pressure, stroke).

Menstrual with polycystic often help to determine the disease at an early stage. If they are completely absent or scarce menstruation is observed, it is important to immediately consult a doctor. Usually, these are the only symptoms of the onset of ovarian disease such as polycystic.

Exhausting diets that lead to a dramatic depletion of the body (weight less than 45 kg) affect the menstrual function. With such a weight, the body is unable to function normally, the hormonal level is disturbed, and, as a result, there is a delay in menstruation. Also, overweight leads to endocrine disorders in general, which affects the menstrual cycle.

    Complications of PCOS

WHAT TO DO IF YOU HAVE DETECTED MYOMO, CYST, INFERTILITY, OR OTHER DISEASE?

Probably, there is not a single woman who would not want to get rid of her monthly forever and without health consequences. The days of menstruation are forced to change the habitual way of life, to refuse from playing sports, swimming and sex. Many women during menstruation experience discomfort, pain, suffer from changes in mood, increased fatigue. But as soon as the monthly doesn’t come on time, panic begins. The main cause of delayed menstruation is pregnancy. For some, this is a joyful event, but for some it is completely useless. But besides pregnancy, there are many reasons for the delay of menstruation.

Polycystic ovary syndrome is one of the hormonal diseases that leads to the fact that there is no ovulation in the woman’s body (the egg is released from the ovary) and infertility occurs.

    Causes of PCOS

In any case, feeling pain in the lower abdomen, which, moreover, is accompanied by the absence of menstruation for more than 5-7 days, should be sent to a gynecologist. The specialist will help determine the cause of these symptoms and, if necessary, prescribe an appropriate treatment for the problem that provoked their occurrence.

    Delayed menstruation with polycystic ovaries

In case of polycystic menstruation, menstruation occurs if one of the ovaries is affected. The hormone androgen at this time may be in small quantities. It should be understood that even under such conditions, the presence of ovulation on a regular basis may not be, since negative processes in the body are already occurring, and it is difficult for one appendage to cope with the production of the necessary hormones for the maturation of the follicle and their release of it ready for fertilization of the egg.

    PCOS treatment

There are cases when with polycystic regular monthly. In this state, should be alerted to what does not happen conception. With regular periods during the development of polycystic ovary, ovulation rarely occurs. Therefore, it is necessary to listen to your body and immediately go for a consultation to the doctor, since polycystic ovary provokes infertility. If the pathology is not identified on time, conception may not occur even after prolonged treatment, since some changes are irreversible.

It is worth noting that during polycystic ovarian menstruation may be delayed from several weeks to 2-3 months. At this time, the organs do not produce the required amount of the hormone estrogen, with the result that the egg does not mature and the yellow body does not form - ovulation does not occur.

When dysfunction of the ovaries observed pulling, dull or cramping abdominal pain, as well as in the lower back.

  • postpartum period
  • lack of ovulation (chronic stage),
  • You are worried about sudden abdominal pain.

With polycystic ovary, the synthesis of female sex hormones is disturbed and testosterone production increases. Polycystosis of the ovaries is clinically manifested by increased hair growth, oily skin, greasy hair, acne, increased body weight. The main danger of polycystic ovaries is the suppression of ovulation, and, as a result, infertility. Due to impaired hormone production, polycystic ovarian disease is often accompanied by delayed menstruation.

    Lack or excess body weight

inability to endure a child (abortion, miscarriage, complications during gestation),

    Causes of delayed menstruation

Regular monthly are the changes in the female body, occurring during each month, which occur the preparation of the female body for the onset of pregnancy. During each month, one of the ovaries removes an ovum ready for fertilization, which is called ovulation. During this period, hormonal changes occur in the woman’s body, which leads to the readiness of the uterus to become pregnant. If ovulation does not occur and the egg is not fertilized, then the upper uterine layer is separated, and the damaged vessels bleed. If this process occurs in violation of regularity of terms, then monthly periods are irregular.

After laparoscopy in case of polycystic ovary, menstruation occurs within a few months, the menstruation cycle is established. This method helps in infertility, provoked by polycystic. The only nuance of such an operation is that its effect lasts for several years, after which the disease can return and again lead to infertility.

Any termination of pregnancy leads to disruption of the hormonal regulation of the menstrual cycle. Abortion is an unnatural abortion, and the woman's body does not have time to adapt to the new conditions, which may be accompanied by a delay in menstruation. In addition, during curettage of the uterus, it is possible to remove not only the functional (regenerating) layer of the endometrium, but also the basal layer, which also leads to a prolonged delay of menstruation and requires treatment.

    lack or excess body weight,

The most favorable period for the occurrence of pregnancy are considered the first six months after surgery. At this time, prescribed hormones that stimulate the maturation of the egg. It is possible to conduct repeated operations, but they bring less effect. Women operated on for PCOS should be under constant medical supervision by a gynecologist.

ovaries (irregularity or lack of ovulation, increased estrogen secretion),

There is an effective treatment for endometriosis, cysts, fibroids, unstable menstrual cycle and other gynecological diseases.. Follow the link and find out what the chief gynecologist of Russia recommends.

Pulling pain in the lower abdomen and in the perineal region is characterized by varicose veins of the pelvis or varicocele in women. Also, with this disease, menstruation delay and discomfort after intercourse are possible.

  • elimination of animal fats and their replacement with vegetable fats. Daily fat intake is not more than 80 g,
  • Infertility. With PCOS, primary infertility is observed. ie, the absence in the history of the occurrence of pregnancy with regular sex life without the use of contraception.
  • Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), which allows to exclude tumor lesions of the ovaries.

As in the case of the prevention of other gynecological diseases, regular planned gynecologist consultations are necessary for the prevention of PCOS. Polycystic ovarian disease, detected in the early phase of development, makes it possible to start the correction of disorders in time and avoid terrible consequences, including infertility. Of great importance is the prevention of abortion, inflammatory and other diseases that lead to dysfunction of the ovaries. Mothers of teenage girls should be interested in the "female" health of their daughters and at the first signs of polycystic ovaries immediately take them to a competent specialist.

Polycystic ovaries can lead to infertility and miscarriage.

After the diagnosis, doctors prescribe a complex therapy, which includes several stages:

Hello, a week ago, my daughter started to twitch her head, 3 times a day, mostly when I eat, I notice. shakes as if the lemon had eaten, although it was eating naprier buckwheat porridge, although it was noticed in games a couple of times. it started as they drank 20 days # 0133,

Blood donation to determine the general state of the body, the identification of follicle-stimulating and luteinizing hormones, the presence of androgens (male hormones), as well as prolactin, insulin, estrogen.

The main ways to prevent polycystic ovaries:

  • polycystic ovaries,
  • Treatment of disorders that occur in the endocrine system (malfunction of the thyroid gland).
  • hyperandrogenism in women - excessive production of androgens (male sex hormones) in the female body, manifested by increased salivation (hirsutism), acne eruptions (acne), increased skin greasiness and seborrhea,
  • Laparoscopy. This method of surgical intervention makes it possible not only to investigate the affected organ, but also to eliminate the cysts formed on it.
  • In addition, constant weakness and ailments have already firmly entered your life.

Ovaries in the reproductive function are responsible for the formation of follicle-stimulating and luteinizing hormones. If the appendages are enlarged, then menstruation with polycystic may not occur. It is by the scanty discharge during the cycle and by their profusion between the menstrual cycles that polycystic ovary can be detected, since it is capable of not expressing itself with other symptoms and is hidden for a long time.

The essence of polycystic, symptoms and its effect on menstruation

Diagnosis of polycystic ovary syndrome is possible if at least two of the following criteria are available:

restriction of carbohydrate foods (baking, sugar, jam, honey, sugary drinks),

The ovaries produce a dominant follicle, from which a mature egg must emerge, after which it collapses. If this does not happen, and it remains on the appendages, we are talking about hormonal failure or other disorders in the woman’s body (malfunctions of the adrenal glands, thyroid, pituitary), which have a detrimental effect on the urogenital system.

Treatment of polycystic ovary is aimed at restoring or normalizing ovulation, menstrual and reproductive functions and is carried out by conservative and operational methods. Conservative treatment of PCOS is carried out with the help of hormonal drugs: anti-estrogens, combined oral contraceptives with anti-androgenic effect (menstrual recovery, elimination of hyperandrogenism), gonadotropins (stimulating ovulation).

  • Preventive measures to prevent the recurrence of cysts on the ovaries.
  • climate change.
  • Irregularity of the menstrual cycle. Violation of ovulation (often the type of anovulation - its complete absence) leads to a change in the menstrual cycle, manifested in long (more than a month) delays or the complete absence of menstruation (amenorrhea). Often such manifestations occur already at the very beginning of the formation of menstrual function in girls during adolescence. In some cases, with polycystic ovaries, long periods of menstruation may alternate with uterine bleeding. caused by endometrial hyperplasia (excessive proliferation of the uterine lining).
  • taking certain medications

Primary polycystic ovaries can be congenital or occur as early as adolescence at the stage of the formation of menstrual function. In adulthood, the development of PCOS may be due to chronic endocrine pathology or inflammatory diseases of the female reproductive system - secondary polycystic ovarian disease. The incidence of polycystic ovaries is from 5 to 10% of women in the reproductive phase. PCOS poses the greatest danger as a cause of female infertility in 25% of clinical cases.

The disease is chronic and full cure is impossible. The treatment is complex, which includes physiotherapy and drug therapy.

Many women are interested in whether or not there are regular periods after childbirth. It is worth noting that after the birth of a child, the hormone prolactin forms in the mother’s body to increase milk during lactation, therefore, the more often a woman feeds the baby, the more this hormone becomes, and the longer there is no menstruation, since other hormones are suppressed during this period.

If a woman has at least one of these symptoms, it is a question of polycystic, during which menstruation is absent or menstruation has a scant discharge with a violation of the cycle.

    Prognosis and prevention

Delay of menstruation - a menstrual disorder, which is manifested by the absence of menstruation for more than 35 days. The main reasons for the delay in menstruation include:

Due to failures in the thyroid gland or adrenal glands, the lack of a sufficient number of female hormones on the ovaries begin to develop cysts, and the appendages themselves thicken. As a result of this process, ovulation does not occur, as there is not enough estrogen for this.

The presence and duration of the menstrual cycle in pathology of the appendages

After laparoscopy in case of polycystic ovary, ovulation may occur as early as 4–7 months and conception will occur. The method is quite effective for such a disease, practically does not cause complications, is well tolerated by women, has a short rehabilitation period.

Infectious diseases can provoke hormonal disorders. stresses and even climate change.

Polycystic ovaries must be treated: without the help of a doctor, uterine bleeding appears in some women and girls, with a long course of the disease without treatment increases the risk of endometrial cancer, the body of the uterus and, according to some sources, the breast.

  • gynecological diseases
  • Pulling pain in the lower abdomen. Pain is chronic, moderately pronounced, may radiate to the lower back or pelvic region.

If there is no result from the ongoing conservative therapy or the development of endometrial hyperplasia, surgical treatment is performed. As a rule, modern operative gynecology uses less traumatic laparoscopic operations in the treatment of polycystic ovaries. In case of polycystic ovaries, a wedge resection is performed. that is, partial removal or cauterization (burning) of the affected ovarian tissue. This leads to a decrease in the production of androgens and the normalization of ovulation. As a result of surgery, pregnancy occurs in 65% of patients. Unfortunately, the effect of the operation lasts from 1 to 3 years, and then again there comes a relapse of polycystic ovary.

It is impossible to completely cure PCOS, so the goal of treatment is to create favorable opportunities for the onset of pregnancy. When planning a pregnancy, women diagnosed with polycystic ovary should be treated to restore and stimulate ovulation. With age, polycystosis of the ovaries progresses, therefore, the issue of pregnancy should be resolved as soon as possible.

In the chronic form of adhesive disease, periodically occurring aching pains in the lower abdomen are noted, there may also be delayed menstruation and constipation. Thus endometriosis or latent infections may manifest. Adhesions are dangerous because they can lead to infertility. The disease is diagnosed when examined by a gynecologist, taking into account the complaints of the woman and anamnesis. An accurate diagnosis is made only after additional examination.

    Symptoms of the disease

    • excessive growth of hair on the face and body (hirsutism),
    • menstrual disorders,
    • very bad feeling during menstruation,
    • acne on the back, face, neck,
    • dysfunction of the sebaceous glands, which is manifested in increased oily skin and hair,
    • bleeding between menstruation,
    • long periods of menstruation,
    • a sharp and significant weight gain,
    • obesity,
    • baldness,
    • recurrent lower abdominal pain,
    • increased blood pressure
    • infertility.

Different women may have different combinations of symptoms. The first sign that you need to pay attention to - irregular menstrual cycles. Often the disease is found at the age of 12 to 14 years, when the first menstruation occurs.

Very often, polycystic ovary syndrome is accompanied by diabetes, candidiasis, and chronic skin diseases. The disease is combined with dysfunction of the thyroid gland, pituitary, hypothalamus, adrenal glands (endocrine glands).

Some girls have no obvious signs of illness. But ultrasound can reveal changes in the ovaries. The consequences of the disease are infertility, pelvic chronic pain, darkening of the skin on certain areas of the body (under the breast, in the groin).

    Causes that can trigger polycystic

Doctors do not have a clear opinion about the causes of this disease. There are a variety of theories that try to explain this pathology. The disease is associated with the body's inability to process the hormone insulin. If its level is quite high, then androgen production begins.

Another theory claims that the protein membrane of the ovaries thickens. This leads to intensive formation of androgens. Some experts believe that androgen synthesis is impaired in the adrenal glands. This theory also does not have 100% confirmation. It’s impossible to explain exactly why a woman’s hormonal system suddenly failed. There are opinions that this occurs under the influence of genetic factors.

[infobl style = "faq"] Obesity plays an important role in the development of the disease. It very often leads to polycystic. However, some women first develop ovarian disease, and then obesity. Lipid metabolism is impaired in 40% of patients suffering from an excess of androgens. [/ Infobl]

Such women are at risk of diabetes, as their cells lose insulin sensitivity. Doctors believe that obesity in itself can lead to irregular menstruation. Obesity provokes an increased production of androgens. Therefore, women need to monitor their weight.

Indirect causes of polycystic ovaries can be the following reasons: frequent sore throats, ARVI, chronic diseases.

    How are diseases diagnosed

    Usually, doctors can immediately deliver

diagnosis based on the characteristic symptoms of the disease. It is confirmed by the data obtained from the survey. Patients perform the following procedures:

    1. Ultrasound

A study of the pelvic organs. Changes in the tissues of the ovaries. They contain cysts filled with fluid. The ovaries are enlarged, their shell is thickened. The specialist notes the growth of connective tissue.

    2. Blood chemistry

It provides an opportunity to identify the existing violations of metabolic processes. Patients usually have high cholesterol. Sometimes glucose is elevated, indicating the likelihood of diabetes.

    3. Blood test for hormones

In polycystic ovary syndrome, an increased level of male sex hormones and LH is found in the blood. In the second phase of the cycle, there is a lack of progesterone.

    4. Biopsy

Sometimes doctors perform endometrial scraping. A small portion of the inner uterine membrane is examined under a microscope. The procedure is prescribed to patients with dysfunctional bleeding. Experts can confirm or deny the version of the presence of a tumor.

    Treatment of folk remedies

If you have found polycystic ovary cider, do not despair. There are many good folk recipes that help to establish the functions of the hormonal system. They can be used separately or combined with medication. Before using traditional medicine should consult your doctor.

    The most effective recipes:

    Natural Healer Borovoy uterus

Borovaya uterus is the main component of many popular recipes. Her healers have long been successfully used to treat polycystic ovary syndrome.

This plant can be found in the Siberian coniferous forests. Unique weed really buy in the pharmacy.

Studies have shown that it contains organic acids, cumatin, arbutin, vitamin C, saponins and other components that have a beneficial effect on women's health. When polycystic is recommended to take the infusion of boron uterus.

To do this, take 2 spoons of herbs and pour them with two glasses of hot water. Cover the container and allow the liquid to infuse for 2 hours. The plant is not recommended to boil, since it loses some of its useful qualities.

The best option - to insist weed in a thermos. Next, the liquid must be filtered. Take in small portions (tablespoon) throughout the day. The course of treatment takes several months. Before taking this infusion, be sure to consult with your doctor.
